Associate Principal Scientist, Immunology Cell Therapy Discovery

The role centers on delivering scientificexpertisefor cell therapy discovery initiatives, underpinned by an in-depth understanding of immunological disease biology(e.g.multiple sclerosis)and/orexpertiseinCAR-T engineering(e.g.,logic-gating) discovery.
Accountabilities
Expert Knowledge: Cultivate andmaintaina comprehensive understanding of theimmunologydisease landscape, or viral vector design and genetic engineering,remainingabreast of the latest advancements and trends in the field.
Collaborative Innovation: Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to propel discovery efforts focused on immunological diseases, with the aim of enhancing AstraZeneca's portfolio.
Stakeholder Engagement:Facilitatecollaboration with key stakeholders both internally and externally to align cell therapy strategies with broader R&Dobjectivesand goals.
Regulatory Compliance: Ensure adherence to all relevant laws, regulations, and company policies related to the development and delivery of medicines.
Research Assay and Research Process Development: Lead the development of in vitro assays and cell therapy researchprocessto assess andvalidatenovel therapeutic strategies and approaches.
Essential Skills/Experience
Advanced Degree: Masters with 5+ years of relevant experience or PhD with 3+ years of relevant experiencein Immunology, Molecular or Cell Biology, Bioengineering, or a related field preferred
Technical Expertise:Demonstratedproficiencyinlogic-gating (AND, NOT, IF/THEN gates),CAR configuration optimization,lentiviral, retroviral, or AAV vector design and engineering, CRISPR and other genetic engineering technologies, non-viral gene delivery technology, and in vitro/in vivo assays, and cell therapy research process development.
Scientific Expertise:Deep understanding ofdisease biology and clinical landscapeof immunological diseases(e.g.MS, RA, IBD)with a focus oncellular therapies.
Collaborative Skills: Excellent collaboration and communication capabilities, adept at working effectively across various functional teams and organizational levels.
Regulatory Insight: Comprehensive understanding of regulatory landscapespertaining tocell therapy and genetic engineering.
Negotiation and Influence: Proven track record to negotiate and influence effectively with senior management and industry partners.
Desirable Skills/Experience
Industry Network: Established connections within the cell therapy, genetic engineering, and immunology sectors.
Publication Track Record: Strong history of peer-reviewed publications inimmunological diseasesand/orcell therapy engineering.

The annual base pay for this position ranges from $134,892.80 - $202,339.20. Our positions offer eligibility for various incentives—an opportunity to receive short-term incentive bonuses, equity-based awards for salaried roles and commissions for sales roles. Benefits offered include qualified retirement programs, paid time off (i.e., vacation, holiday, and leaves), as well as health, dental, and vision coverage in accordance with the terms of the applicable plans.
